The Atyrau Oil Refinery is moving from pilot initiatives to the practical implementation of artificial intelligence-based solutions. Elmira Orynbasarova, Head of the IT Department at AOR LLP, spoke about this at the PetroDigital & Automation 2026 forum, presenting the company’s experience in the field of digital transformation.
The presentation by Elmira Orynbasarova formed part of the forum’s business program, which focused on key trends in the digitalization of the oil and gas industry. She emphasized that the ANPZ refinery has already completed the pilot phase and is now focusing on scaling up solutions that have proven their effectiveness.
By the end of 2026, the company plans to implement two key projects: the introduction of predictive equipment analytics and computer vision technologies. These solutions will improve the reliability of production processes, identify potential anomalies in advance and minimize the risk of unscheduled downtime.
According to the speaker, artificial intelligence is no longer merely a supporting tool but is becoming a fully-fledged element of operational activities. Its application opens up new opportunities for data-driven production management and predictive modelling.
ANPZ is systematically developing its digital infrastructure by integrating modern IT solutions into its technological processes. Today, the plant is building a sustainable digital ecosystem in which automation and intelligent systems play a key role, confirming its status as a modern high-tech production facility.
The forum brought together representatives of government bodies, leading oil and gas companies and the IT industry, including KazMunayGas, QazaqGaz, Tengizchevroil, NCOC, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating and international technology partners such as Honeywell. The focus is on the implementation of artificial intelligence, automation and the development of the industry’s digital ecosystem.
